When the calcium carbonate is been formed into minute crystalline form the pearl is usually composed of, and is been deposited in concentric layers. The pearl is been ideally composed in a perfect round shape which is also smooth, but even other shapes of pearls occur. There are many types and qualities among the pearls, and the finest quality of the pearls is been valued as one among the gemstones and is been considered as one of the ornamental beauty for many centuries. Freshwater pearls are formed from various species of the fresh water mussels which usually live in lakes, ponds and wherever fresh water is available. Black pearls which are usually termed as Black Tahitian Pearls, and are quite highly valued because this variety is quite rare to be found. These black pearls can never be mass produced.
