Laser Surgery: One Of The Commonly Performed Surgeries

Laser surgery is one of the most commonly and generally and also technically practiced procedure in order to correct the vision problems in the procedure which is been caused by refractive errors which would include myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and also other related diseases which are part of the aging problems and can be rectified by performing the surgery and few people also perform laser surgery to beautify their skin and increase their beauty. During the laser surgery the surgeon would use a laser device in order to make permanent changes in the shape of the affected cornea of the patient. In most of the cases only the Excimer laser only is been produced which would produce a beam of the ultraviolet light to vaporize the affected tissue.

Excimer and LASIK are the major two types of laser surgery performed and in these procedures the surgeon would remove the outer layer of the cornea using a surgical blade and then the laser beam is used to vaporize the tissue which would be present under the surface of the cornea. The healing procedure would initially within a week but the patient needs and necessarily has to go in for regular check ups with the doctor. But the LASIK treatment is basically a little complicated. There are advancements in the technology every day and doctors have started using Wavefront technology with which the operating surgeon would be able to correct the vision of the affected cornea more precisely. Naturally, there are more benefits by undergoing these treatments as it is been performed only by highly qualified and trained professionals in the field and the dependency on the glasses and contact lenses can be avoided totally, but at the same time it does involves lots of risks in the procedure too. The major risk is the corneal infection but it does not occur in all the cases.
